Methodology

How data is sourced, how claims are checked and how corrections are handled.

Data

  • Dashboards and charts name their source on the page. Where a series comes from a public statistical agency or an on-chain source, the series name and the date retrieved are shown.
  • Gaps in the data are shown as gaps. Missing values are never filled in with invented numbers.
  • Anything illustrative, simulated or a placeholder is labelled as such on the page.

Research

  • Original pieces list their sources at the foot of the page, numbered and linked.
  • Curated pieces link to the original, quote only short excerpts and keep commentary clearly separate from the source's own words.
  • Where a claim is an opinion or a forecast, it is described that way.

Sources

Each page carries its own source list. Common sources include public statistical releases, the Bitcoin blockchain itself, and primary documents such as the Bitcoin whitepaper.

Corrections

If something is wrong, the page is corrected and the "updated" date changes. Material corrections are noted on the page. Send corrections via @parachutesBTC on X.
